The AmazingPortMoresby launched the five-day independence anniversary

The #AmazingPortMoresby launched the five-day independence anniversary celebrations with a Unity Parade this morning from Murray Barracks to Ela Beach.
The celebration was officially launched by NCD Governor Powes Parkop along with City Manager Ravu Frank and members of the NCDC Board.
The members of PNG Royal Constabulary Brass Band, PNG Correctional Services, PNG Defence Force, PNG Fire Service, Moni Plus Port Moresby Vipers, Motu-Koitabu people, students, international communities, business houses, foreign soldiers, and other residents participated in the Unity Parade.
Thousands of people gathered in one PNG shirt color, marched with pride and unity to be part of the historic Unity Parade in celebration of PNG's 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations
In his keynote address, Governor Parkop welcomed everyone for their participation in the Unity Parade this morning.
Parkop said: "This five- days celebration are to showcase that a diverse nation, with a thousand cultures and 800 languages of PNG, can come together as one nation and stand together in unity as we celebrate 50 years of freedom, identity, and progress as a nation."
Governor Parkop also highlighted that the long five - days celebration in Port Moresby is to honor and respect the founding fathers and mothers of this country who achieved independence.
He called the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare the peacemaker who achieved independence, without any bloodshed, for the golden jubilee.
Governor Parkop also highlighted his achievements undee his 18-yer tenure.
Mr Parkop encouraged the NCDC Board Members and city residents to respect one another and work together with unity for the next 50 years.
He said: "I have committed to the people that resetting the city for the next 50 years is already in planning, so we will work collaboratively with the National Government to make it happen."
City Manager Ravu Frank honored the Motu-Koitabu people for the land where the city is built.
Mr. Frank said that the governor has been hosting the 50th anniversary since May with Pacific regions, Asian regions, and PNG Story until now.
The city manager praised Governor Parkop for his visionary leadership, leading the city to its current developing stage as a regional hub.
City Manager Ravu committed to supporting Parkop's leadership in the city for further development.
The Unity Parade was not only for walking but also for the display of dance and music performances, including PNG wan square, Junior Polye Crew, and Manus Traditional dancing.
The Amazing Port Moresby city celebration Unity Parade ended with a great celebration ahead of the 50th Independence celebrations.
