Port Moresby to Celebrate Malaysia Day with a Vibrant Cultural Showcase

The people of Port Moresby are invited to experience the rich cultural tapestry of Malaysia at the Malaysia Day Celebration on Saturday, 14th June 2025 at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium. Running from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the event is free and open to all.
Hosted by Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of NCD, under the banner of “Amazing Port Moresby – Asian Story & Pacific Story,” Malaysia Day is a part of PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary calendar, and proudly celebrates Malaysia’s contributions and cultural connections with Papua New Guinea.
Themed “Celebrate the Food, Film and Traditions of Malaysia,” the day will showcase an exciting blend of activities for all ages—from mouthwatering Malaysian street food to award-nominated animated features, from traditional dances and musical performances to a live reenactment of a traditional Malaysian wedding ceremony.
“Malaysia is more than a destination—it’s a journey through culture, flavors, and traditions. It truly lives up to its global tagline, ‘Malaysia, Truly Asia’. Through this event, we’re giving Port Moresby a taste of Malaysia’s unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures,” said Ms Fazilah, director Amazing Port Moresby.
