PORT MORESBY: In anticipation of the upcoming 48th Independence Day celebration, Port Moresby is gearing up for a spectacular event under the leadership of our NCD Governor, Hon. Powes Parkop.

The first planning meeting was chaired yesterday by powerful Governor, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration that in just two months away.

This year's Independence Day holds special significance as Port Moresby also prepares for the momentous 50th year of Independence Day celebrations in 2025.

With the goal of creating a remarkable experience for citizens and visitors alike, early preparation, careful planning, and a strong commitment to the city's vision are at the forefront of the organizing committee's efforts.

Gone are the days of ad hoc activities; the focus now is on meticulous planning and coordination to ensure a well-organized and meaningful celebration.

By developing comprehensive plans and innovative concepts, the city aims to mobilize stakeholders from the corporate, education, and defence sectors, which are key focus areas for the event.

Independence Day is a flagship event that unites the community and showcases the spirit of Port Moresby.

It serves as a platform to promote the city's progress in creating a clean, safe, healthy, planned, and liveable environment.

Moreover, the celebration provides an excellent opportunity to highlight Amazing Port Moresby's tourism potential as well, attracting visitors from the region and beyond.

Looking ahead, Hon. Parkop eagerly anticipates the stakeholder meeting scheduled next week at City Hall. It will serve as a platform to further progress the plans and discuss innovative ideas to make this year's Independence Day celebration truly memorable.
