PORT MORESBY: As the sun cast its warm golden rays over Port Moresby's streets, a grand spectacle unfolded along Independence Boulevard.
The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) organized the inaugural National 48th Independence Parade Program, a dazzling display of unity, diversity, and national pride.

The National Independence Parade was a historic collaboration involving stakeholders from diverse sectors. The parade featured various groups, each representing a unique facet of Papua New Guinea's rich culture, tradition, and history. From the disciplined formations of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) to the exuberant spirit of schoolchildren, the parade showcased the nation's diversity. Notable participants included NGOs, sports teams, business houses, public servants, scouts, emergency services, and uniformed bodies.

In total, 35 groups comprising 1,500 participants converged to make the event a resounding success. The RPNGC Band set the tempo, leading the way for other groups, including schools, community organizations, and uniformed bodies like the PNG Defense Force (PNGDF), police, and fire brigade. The parade served as a platform for participants to express their unity, pride, and patriotism.
