MODERNISATION OF MOTU-KOITABU VILLAGES ON TRACK

PORT MORESBY: The 2.4-kilometre road rehabilitation from the Kanudi roundabout to the Atlas Steel roundabout is progressing well.

According to the Project Supervisor, Rob Walker, it is expected to be completed in September. Walker works for the contractor Global Constructions Limited

Mr Walker said the road construction cost the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) K4.9 million.

Commenting on the project after driving through this morning, Governor Parkop said the indigenous villages-Baruni and Tatana of the National Capital District (NCD), are being brought into the equation of city transformation.

Governor Parkop said there was glaring contrast between the general landscape of the city and the villages; thus, the project will help bridge the development gap. The Settlement to Suburb upgrade project also complements this initiative.

In collaboration with the Motu Koita Assembly, the village modernisation project is an initiative of Governor Parkop.

The major road rehabilitation features sealing, proper drainage, and street lights lit up the villages. A water supply project is also part of the scope.

The projects were launched in 2021 by MKA Chairman Hon. Dadi Toka Jnr and Governor Parkop.

Meanwhile, Governor Parkop announced that the road rehabilitation, funded by the National Government under a tax credit scheme, will be extended from the Atlas Steel roundabout to LNG Site next week.
