AMAZING PORT MORESBY INTERNATIONAL MARATHON
Yesterday, in a media launch held at City Hall Annex, Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of the National Capital District (NCD), expressed his excitement about the upcoming Amazing Port Moresby International Marathon scheduled for the 30th of this month.
The marathon, to be held on Sunday 30th, July 2023, will feature three major events: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10-kilometer Marathon.
The marathon, hosted in the capital city, further highlights Port Moresby as a regional hub for prestigious international events. Participants from around the world, including countries such as the USA, Canada, Poland, and Japan, will ensure a diverse and competitive field of runners.
Governor Parkop highlighted that one participant will attempt to set a world record during the marathon, presenting an exceptional achievement for Papua New Guinea to be recognized in the esteemed Guinness Book of World Records.
Emphasizing the significance of this occasion for Amazing Port Moresby and the Port Moresby Road Runners Association, Governor Parkop expressed gratitude to the sponsors and participants for their valuable contributions in making the event possible.
Sponsors include Trophy Haus, Fincorp, Elisio, Apec Haus, TruGas, Post Courier, and the Hilton Hotel.
"We are dedicated to promoting our city as a regional hub and a destination capable of hosting world-class events, whether in the realms of sports, events, tourism, or business," concluded Governor Parkop.
