David Conn

David Conn is representing the business & professional group in the NCDC Board [Section 5(b)(iii) of National Capital District Commission Act 2001].

His vision for NCDC is to ensure that the environment for the planned development of the city is conducive to all businesses; to concentrate more on social infrastructures such as health, education, income opportunities and public education on the responsibilities of all citizens to take pride in their living environment and "buy-in" to the city's development and growth; to rehabilitate the road networks with new developments only to be

considered when we maintain what we have now; to find viable solutions for the issues relating to urbanization rather than moving the problems somewhere else, to find proper system of governance for NCD; to address the concerns of Motu-Koitabu landowners and to involve them in addressing land use issues; to build capacities for genuine commitment from the staff so as to address the needs of the people in the city.

David holds a Masters degree in Arts and a diploma in Teaching. He is the founding member of the PNG Institute of Directors and holds membership with Commonwealth Association of Corporate Governance and currently the President of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce. David is also representing PNG in the Australian Business Volunteers since 1996.

  • Awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of services to sports, education and the community through involvement with Rotary International.

  • Awarded PNG 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee Medal for services to Business and the Community.

  • Awarded PNG 10th Anniversary Independence Medal for services to Education.

  • Holds the prestigious Rotary International 75th Anniversary Paul Harris Fellow, and subsequently awarded two more times, including the 100th Anniversary PHF Award for Rotary service in PNG during the Rabaul Eruption, Sepik Floods and the Aitape Tsunami.
